Yesterday, Lynn linked to a pattern for various cat accoutrements. (Seriously, what cat needs a backpack?). Well, it seems that people can't resist dressing their cat up - and cats are generally made NOT to wear more than a collar. Craftzine now has this Lady Liberty cat-hat. (The cat - unlike some of the earlier pictures of dressed cats, which radiated white-hot kitty-hate - seems to be looking at the viewer with an expression of, "I have now officially lost the will to live").

Generally, if a cat has anything on its feet (like that little torch in the picture), it's going to run around going bonkers until the thing is off its feet. They also generally do not like things on their heads. (Heck, my parents' cats didn't even like wearing collars or harnesses - you put the harness on the cat and it would immediately drop to the floor in a very Civil Disobedience, "You're going to have to drag me off this protest site, pig!" attitude)

I generally feel that if you feel moved to dress an animal up, get yourself a teddy bear. Or learn to make amigurumi. Because most living beasts seem quite miserable when forced to parade around in human drag.

(I realize there are exceptions to this, but it's a generalization.)
