Well, I wimped out and did two things I wasn't going to do.
First, took an ibuprofen tablet in the middle of the day (I don't like to take things too frequently and I fear I will need a dose before bed). And I called the dentist and am waiting on a call back (all the hygienists were out at lunch but should be back soon). I'm hoping the answer is just, "Well, you know, you have really deep roots and the drilling disturbed things" not "Come in this afternoon and we'll take the crown off and clean out in there again." Or worse, "Here's the endodontist we refer people to..."
The ibuprofen does stop the throbbing...and I also noticed, before taking it, that getting a drink of cool (but NOT cold) water relieved the pain for a few minutes. So I don't know. Maybe I just have a very sensitive mouth, which would explain a lot of things. (Like the fact that I canNOT bear to lie there while they scrape tartar off my teeth, which is just one reason why I'm fairly diligent about brushing and flossing).
