"Maybe I'm New Wave." "Maybe you're just stupid."*

Ah, the early 80s. How easily we forget.

(That said - the second "look" in that slide show - the ska-musician-inspired one - is actually not so bad.)

(*one of the relatively few lines I remember from Calvin and Hobbes. I think Hobbes was dressed up in a pair of Mickey Mouse pants - the 1930s style Mickey ones, with the giant buttons, and Calvin was making fun of him. "Maybe I'm just New Wave" was his rejoinder, which seemed wonderful to me at the time: any haberdashery sin could immediately be erased by merely uttering that phrase. New Wave excused everything.)

Checkered pants. Now WHY don't I have a pair of those. I knew my wardrobe was missing something essential.

But those plaid pants? I thought they were planted firmly in the 70s. There's a picture of me when I was 5 or something in an almost identical pair.
