Urgh.

It's snowing like stink here - started around noon. Every grade school in the region (that wasn't already out for a teacher in-service day tomorrow) has posted that they're closed for tomorrow.

I'm supposed to give an exam tomorrow. I've already had two people e-mail me explaining that they live a considerable distance from campus, will I allow them to take the test Monday if campus is open tomorrow? (Yes. I don't want anyone getting in a wreck because of one of my exams). I wish they'd just close campus and be done with it so people won't worry. And knowing some of my students, they'd TAKE the risk rather than miss the exam, even though I think most of them would realize I'm reasonable enough to let them have a make-up.

They SAY they will make the decision about closure "by 10 pm IF POSSIBLE." I don't like that "IF POSSIBLE." It's NOT going to get better overnight. (I also had had hopes of being able to go to bed without having to set my alarm, and I normally don't stay up as late as 10, or at least am not watching television that late*).

(*It's an insomniac thing. Some sleep scientists hypothesize that exposure to bright light - especially, lighted screens - late in the evening kind of resets the body-clocks of people prone to insomnia and makes it harder for them to fall asleep. I definitely have noticed an association between nights I'm up late surfing the Web working on the computer and not being able to fall asleep readily, so I try to limit television and computer exposure after about 8:30-9 pm. At least on the days when I'm getting up at 5.)
