I made it in safely, but I've never been more worried while driving before. Huge piles of half-frozen slush on the roads. Nearly got hung up in my own drive. Met a guy in a huge pickup truck coming the other way with his windshield COVERED with snow and about a 2" square area cleared so he could "see."

The good news is that this should melt before I need to leave campus again.

Okay, knitting:

I worked more on the Airy Cardigan last night. Got past the divides for the back and fronts, in fact - I'm working on the left front now and all the other bits are attached to stitch holders.

As much as I'm not crazy about knitting with hairy yarn (if you make a mistake, it's misery to un-knit, and it's fairly easy to either lose a stitch or inadvertently knit into the row below if you're not paying attention), it DOES work up into a nice fabric - it's very light but warm and has a fluffiness that plain wool can't match.

I'm also considering the sleeves - I'm thinking, if it looks like I'll have enough yarn when it comes time to do the sleeves, I'm going to make them wrist-length rather than the elbow-length shown in the pattern. Because full-length sleeves are more practical - you can wear them over something long-sleeved without it looking weird, and also, sometimes, I fear those 3/4 length sleeves can contribute to a "mutton dressed as lamb" look on some things.

I'll just have to contemplate how it will work with the increases - spacing them more widely, or something.
