As promised, a photo of the finished Clapotis:
(The colors are off in that photo; the shawl actually DOES match the skirt).
I used Cleckheaton Country Silk (Which should have the word "wool" somewhere in that name, seeing as the yarn is actually 85% wool and only 15% silk.)
Slightly strained smile because, in fact, it was quite extremely early when that photo was taken.
Here's a back view of the shawl:
This was a good yarn for this pattern - true, it's not a variegated, which seems to be the favorite choice for a Clapotis - but it knits up nicely and the dropped stitches drop easily.
It's also warm. Probably a bit TOO warm for today - it was already in the 70s when I left the house, which means I expect that once the sun comes up my office will hit about 30* C.

wish it was warm here. thunderstorms rumbled through this morning, and they're talking flurries tonight. heck of a thing on your birthday!
Nice job on the Clapotis. Frankly, I'm pleased to see one that isn't in variegated yarn.
Zowie!
That's such a great color on you.
What a lovely shawl!
It's beautiful. I have admired Clapotis for a long time, but I don't really have any use for shawls.

It looks wonderful on you. Red makes you shine (in the very best sense).
ditto what they said. Red is lovely on you and that is a great shawl.
I agree - country silk is ought to be called silk flecked wool, but I love it knit up in seed stitch.
hello, just bounced over from Erika's site...
and LOVING your clapo..clappot..man I can't even type it and my LYS laughs at me when I try to pronounce it. Anyway, looks great and great on you!
