Wow, I made a lot of toys over the break.
Here's the last new FO, which is another toy:
It's that fairly-famous (judging from the number of people who've made it) amigurumi cat pattern (It's called Amineko...neko being a transliteration of the Japanese word for cat. My mom had a Japanese officemate when she was in grad school, and she says Mitzi used to refer to my parents' cat as Neko-san.)
(I'd like to the pattern but for some reason I cannot get the link to work this morning. It is a Japanese site that has been translated into English and the original author has some rather stern warnings about other "unauthorized" translations that have been made...)
I actually took the pattern with me but without yarn, and bought yarn up there - wound up with "Vanna's Choice" (yes, that Vanna) acrylic yarn. The yarn works okay, it's a little softer and more loosely spun than some so it did split in places.
I used a purplish color, so I named the cat "Umeboshi" after a Japanese type of pickled plum. (the few Japanese words I know mostly pertain to food...)
I attempted to copy the face on the original cat because I liked how it looked.

Aww, so cute! And he looks very relaxed and at home atop your mysteries. Great job!
Oh, the cat is adorable! I might have to dig out those crochet hooks again.
Very cute! And I love the name you gave him.

I have been crazy about that cat ever since the first time I saw it on someone's blog several years ago. If you could send me the link for the pattern, I would sure appreciate it - I would learn to crochet just so I could make this cat!
