Oh, wow. Thanks, Lydia - the colorway looks much nicer knit up than I feared it might. I may use it for a pair of simple cabled socks then - or maybe a chevron-y pattern that will make the stripes dance up and down. The Gendarme, it looks like it might be more pool-y, so probably a slipped stitch pattern for that one.
