A little whinge, if I may:

it is stinking hot here. And humid. And miserable. It is supposed to be fall- you know, cooler weather, nice breezes, low humidity, RAIN?

The heat index right now is very nearly 90 and it is not as hot as it will get today.

The thing that really gets me is how the weathermen keep getting our hopes up with promises of a "cool front" - but then those fronts keep 'washing out' and turning into stationary fronts. Which just bring more HOT.

This is the time of year when I despair of ever being able to wear any of the sweaters I've knit. Or any of the socks, for that matter.

Oh....And....they've turned the HEAT on in a couple of the classrooms! (we have no control over the heating/a/c - it's done either centrally or through a pre-programmed system). I told my students that if the heat kept up I would be finding a different room for us to meet in. I cannot teach in a room where it's 85* or hotter.
