New fall Knitty is up. (And loading slowly - I guess lots of folks are checking it out).

My immediate favorite is the Woodins, a somewhat cuter version of the Kodama of Miyazake (I haven't cross-checked the pattern-author's name, but I'd bet money - or at least cookies - that she's the person behind Mochimochiland). (And yeah - I found the Kodama a little unsettling. These guys are a lot more appealing.)

I also like Henry, a nice, subtly-patterned scarf made of very fine weight (like sock-weight; the British Commonwealth "four ply" designation) yarn.

And this time, there's nothing that makes me howl with frustration and say, "I was thinking of designing something JUST LIKE THAT!" (the infamous "dancing grannies" hat).

i ended up getting my first peek at S&B at a friend's house. only one person had seen it already, so it was interesting to see that our tastes were pretty much all the same. we liked the style of henry, but coudln't imagine that much knitting on those small needles (socks seem so much less, even if they're not).

i think the one that made us howl the most was the sweater made from handspun that was cropped. it was the wrong sweater for the wrong model. sigh.

oh, and i got the stuff on saturday. Thanks! i'm keeping the pencils & erasers (yes they're too young for hte boys, but that's ok, i'd keep them anyway!)
