Despite the knot and the breaks, I finished the first of the Neapolitan socks

I rather like it; you may think it looks like something Hello Kitty coughed up. This is one of those yarn colorways that seems to cause strong feelings either one way or another.

(I SO want to get a pair of mary-jane style shoes that are of a size and a fit that I can wear them with handknit socks; I think this is one color pattern that would look well with them.

And if women over 30 CAN wear lip gloss, after all*, then I think it's okay for me to wear mary jane type shoes)

I also decided to take a picture of the u-neck vest, at least to show the color, even though it's not very far along:

(*I have a friend who is a M*ry K*y consultant. She got me in for a "makeover" today. Now, I'm not 100% down will all the face-stuff: the only time I ever plan on wearing eyeshadow again will be as part of a costume. But she did help me find a lipstick color that's neither lurid nor disappearing on me. And you know, as pale as I am, I DO look better with lipstick. I kind of resist wearing it because it's another maintenance-type-thing that I have to spend time on, but I do look a little less fade-into-the-wallpaper if I have it on.

And she said that gloss was perfectly fine if I wanted to wear it. Not that I do, but that's another one of those "you're too old for x" rules that I guess isn't true after all. And I will start using their foundation when I run out of what I have; their palest shade is a better match for my skin than Clinique's palest shade (which is what I had been using))

Oh, and "I Can Has Cheezburger," which is like one of the bestest things the Internet people came up with, EVER, had this picture today:

Is that not just so cute? Seriously, that picture alone could restore my will to live. (I am a big fan of The Cute.)

I recently bought some Mary Jane-ish style shoes at Wal-Mart. I think they'll look okay on my feet and they have the advantage of being inexpensive. You might want to check out the shoe department at your local Wal-Mart. In order to wear handknit socks in them, you might need to get a wider width shoe.
