Well, I may be lucky this time with the ice storm. The precipitation has moved out, and provided we don't get high wind today, I probably won't lose either power or major tree branches.
My redbud did lose several branches but it's always been kind of a sickly tree; I don't know if the wood is just weak or if this particular tree has a fungus or something but the tree itself has never looked super-healthy. It is probably good I cut off the branches I did before the ice storm.
I will say I'm getting a tee-toncy bit housebound. I rewrote a journal article yesterday afternoon and figured out the citations. I knit some on the front of the Central Park Hoodie. And I spent a certain amount of time going to the window and looking out and trying to judge how thick the ice was getting. I read various things. I put music on and danced around my bedroom. (Would that I could put that bit of the "old Irish" saying [that probably isn't] into practice; I canNOT dance in public but I can when there literally is nobody else in the room.). And I rewatched part of "The Ladykillers" and I must correct something. It is a fake "Major," not a fake "Colonel." I do not know why I am so bad at remembering appropriate rank, but I always have been in every situation.
(And my opinion of the movie stands; it is among the best comedies I've seen. It's not laugh-out-loud every minute - like the Airplane! series or the Naked Gun movies are, but there are some very funny scenes. I think I want to find - either rent or buy - copies of the other Ealing comedies from that era.)
When you get used to getting out and doing things - especially working - every day, enforced staying-at-home gets a little old.
