Over the weekend, I decorated my mantel for February:
I left SOME of the "wintry candle" things. But I added a couple of vases of (fake) flowers, and a big red candle and two smaller gold ones. And on the left is Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and on the right is Robin Hood and Maid Marian (at least, as Disney saw them).
Yeah, I went with Valentine's day. Partly because I really don't have any Mardi Gras type stuff and I didn't want to go out and buy stuff to decorate my mantel - I think I had ONE set of beads and some fabrics that had the green, gold, and purple colors, but looking at those, my imagination kind of failed me.
But I did have stuff for V-day, so I went with that.
I also remembered something I had tucked way back on a shelf:
This is another one of those funny-cheap dimestore things that I find in antique shops around here. The woman who sold it to me said she thought it had probably been a wedding-cake topper. No marks on it but I'm guessing made-in-Japan, and I'm guessing maybe 1950s from the woman's dress. So of course, this little couple goes out among the candles for February.
I also finished the latest Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf last night:
Ugh. you can really see my double chin in that shot.
I also started the next quilt, using mostly Denyse*Schmidt fabrics (with some Kaffe*Fassett mixed in:)
It's going to be a Tumbler quilt, which is a one-patch pattern. (At the very lower right, you can see two of the tumblers sewn together - this was to get a measurement so I could plan how many I needed to cut to make the quilt.)
I'm going to try and stack and cut the fabrics using the little template I have, so I don't get lost in the tedium of cutting.

i like your mantle. it's not the traditional red/pink. i'm partial to burgundies/plums/cream colorscapes for valentines day, myself. i don't do traditional christmas colors either, lol.
i won't hold minnie mouse against you, lol.
i like your scarf. i'm making one myself with red worsted doublestranded with some red/white/blue sock yarn that someone gave me, because when they bought it, they thought it was navy/cream/orange. it's t urning out quite nicely, but i need to find the other ball of sockyarn, lol.
