I'm back.

The meetings were generally good but I am once again reminded of one of the frustrations of living in the southwest: everything is very far away from everything else. I think I was in the car a close to a total of 9 hours between yesterday and the day before.

And my not getting the e-mails didn't lead to any problems; my bigger duties as section chair started yesterday - now that I am officially section chair - and I know what I'm supposed to do (mostly harass people before the next meeting and ask them if they want to do a paper.) My section is pretty casual and after the papers I saw yesterday, I have a good idea for one to do next year, if we have any shortage of papers.

And the banquet (Friday noon) was better than most meeting-banquets I've had.

I do have a bunch of grading now but it's still early. And I've decided NOT to do the trash pickup - it's cold, my hip is bothering me from having sat in the car for 9 hours, I have the grading to do. And I think I've done enough for other people already this past week.

So I'm going to go home, grade, partway through the grading take a hot shower to try and relax my hip, and when I get done with the grading (and Sunday school prep), I'm going to sew on my newest quilt.

I did get a little knitting on the Little Pink Sock done while traveling - only as far as starting the heel flap though. It seems like when I go to meetings I don't have copious amounts of time to do other-than-meeting things (that may be partly because, unlike some of my colleagues, I'd rather be in bed by 10 than out exploring the bars in the town).
