Tomorrow is going to be hectic so I am posting for Monday now.
I realized this weekend that I hadn't been sewing much. I knew why - my sewing room had gotten very messy and cluttered (it is off of my bedroom so no one ever sees it. It's the room I use as a "box room" to put all the things I don't want in the way at the moment.)
So I spent part of the weekend cleaning it up. And then I sewed.
First, I got caught up on the buck-a-block sampler quilt that my "local" (if you can consider 1/2 hour away local) quilt shop is doing:
I also started the next quilt I had planned. This is one of those quilts from the Modern Quilt Workshop book. The pattern is called "Zipper."
This is the first half of the first row - there are eight of the large rectangles per row, and a total of eleven rows. I'm pretty happy with it and once you get a bunch of the pieces cut, it's easy to do a "little" work on it at a time - each block is pretty self-contained and as long as you pay attention to what colors go where, you can start and stop working on it as you please.
I also knit on each of the in-progress socks - I'm almost to the heel flap on the second sock of both the Mega Boots Stretch and the Barley-Sugar Column socks.
Hopefully sometime soon I can get around to typing up the pattern for the Barley-Sugar Column socks; I'm still not sure where to host it yet, whether to get a Geocities account (but the ads that get pasted on the site, ack pfui) or whether to design a second Blogspot blog, see if I can do one with individual "pages" (one pattern per page) and put it there, or what.
But, as I said - this coming week is going to be hectic. Monday I agreed to help cook for the local soup kitchen before my evening class, and Tuesday I get to hand out candy to little monsters, and Wednesday is the usual Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday I have meetings out of town. So yeah. It's gonna be a hectic week.

Oh, no, why oh why did you have to remind me of Zipper and in general of Modern Quilts. I have starteritis as it is already and now I am hankering for some sewing time.
The quilt blocks look great - and I love the Modern Quilts book. Your Zippers will be dynamite!
