Well, TGIF.
I'm done for the week. Done until 11 am on Tuesday, really - we get Labor Day off.
I'm going to work on reseach until ~2 pm and then go home and relax. I didn't knit as much as I intended to last night. I was reeeeaelllly reaaaaalllly looking forward to plopping down in front of the tube - there's not much on any more that I enjoy - and I thought "Thursday. That means 'My Name is Earl*' and 'The Office.'" Nope! It's Thursday Night Football! On NBC! On a Thursday!
(WTF Thursday, indeed. Football on a Thursday?)
I don't like football. I can tolerate college ball, especially the bowl games, but the pro level, meh. Especially since we've been treated to the "Ballad of T.O. and His Possibly Not Injured as Bad as He Claims Hamstring" here (Dallas is the nearest team).
So I flipped around, gave up (even Cartoon Network let me down - the show with the three boys named Ed, one of which has a green tongue. Seriously. A green tongue. I cannot watch that show.). I knit some on the long-term-ongoing Art Mohair shawl, but didn't get that far.
(*Which is totally one of my guilty-pleasure shows. I tell myself I should not like it - it is crude and gross and features people that, if I had to deal with them in my daily life, would send me screaming from the room. But it makes me laugh. And there's also sort of a weird and twisted but still fundamental sweetness there, the whole idea that Earl has to grow up and be responsible and fix the stuff on his "list" before his life can stop sucking. In a way it's like the movie "Joe Dirt," which I also tell myself I should not like (again: crude and gross and people that would send me screaming from the room) but which also has a fundamental sweetness to it, Joe trying to find his family and along the way realizing he's actually put together a pretty good surrogate family and all, what with Brandi and Kickin' Wing and all.)
Anyway. I really need to get myself at least one of these items for times like this:
a dvd player (other than the one attached to my computer. I can watch dvds on it but not in comfort)
a satellite radio and subscription (yes, I'm still thinking about it.)
an upgrade to digital cable which will bring with it Turner Classic Movies and the National Geographic channel and some digital music channels. (Getting a dish setup is out because they don't offer the local channels here and I need those for Emergency Weather (or Emergency Other) information. And a friend who got the dish had one heck of a time even getting the network feeds she subscribed to to work.)

so sad about the football ... must be your locale, we had earl and office here. i feel the same way you do about earl, but it has those sweet significant moments that make it somewhat redeeming.
