I'm toying with an idea, but I don't know how much use there is in it.
I'm thinking of setting up a separate blog - under the auspices of my fillyjonk login - and posting weekly the Youth Group lessons that I'm doing. Because, I've taken to typing them up on the computer for my own use, and it would be fairly simple to upload them.
They're not anything flashy or "cool" - they're definitely not Group Magazine material. I lean pretty heavily on the lectionary, usually using the scripture passage NOT used in the previous week's sermon. I read it, I read some commentary on it, I think about how it might relate to teenagers (a big thing we're talking about right now is being able to work together as a group so I'm using the letter of James passages from the lectionary). I suppose I could also occasionally post passages from the notes I make to myself for the Sunday school lessons I teach twice a month.
I just like the idea of, if it sort of worked for me, it might serve as a jumping-off -point for someone else in a similar position - someone who's doing youth group leadership without any real training and who's doing it on a volunteer basis without much time to prepare. I could also have a links-list of pages I personally find useful.
I will probably think about it for a little while longer, but I have a month or more's backlog of lessons I could post.
