I saw a t-shirt somewhere that declared, "If it has tires or testicles, it's going to be trouble."
I think they got that partly wrong.
I think it should say, "If it has tires or TECHNOLOGY, it's going to be trouble.*"
I just spent the better part of 2 hours fighting with the departmental poster printer. The good news is that the posters are printed. The bad news is I wasted a load of paper and my headache is worse. And I can't even take the poster home with me! It won't fit safely in the cabin of LittlePickup and I do not want to risk carrying it in the pickup back. (the bed? What do you call the back of a pickup?)
(*Also changed out of my desire to not malign the testicle-bearing ones out there. I've known plenty in that category that I've never had trouble with...)
I think I am going to go home now and enjoy my nice quiet low-tech house, with my nice quiet low-tech book to read (if this #($*# headache goes away) and my nice quiet low-tech Hourglass Sweater to knit on. And maybe some tea. And maybe some Bach on the cd player.
Yes, I know, cd players are technological, but they get a pass from me because (a) I've had one for 10 years now and nothing's gone wrong with it yet and (b) they make music. Anything that makes music is an honorary low-tech device in my book.
I mean, you could also argue that knitting is technology - really, that anything more sophisticated than banging one rock against another is technology - but it's technology that I can control. And that I can fix if something goes wrong. And that doesn't have mysterious "default" settings that the Computer Guys were supposed to set but didn't....

I hope things start going better soon. It sounds like it's been a really rough few days.
