I guess the past couple days' stress is catching up with me. I'm really tired and I have a killer headache right now. (And it's the kind that's like a band all the way around my head). And my neck hurts.
I also haven't been sleeping all that well - I put my big boxfan near my bedroom door and run it all night to help keep what cool air I have circulating. I dreamed all last night about trying to cross busy highways, or flocks of birds flying overhead, or an extended dream about me living in a loft-type apartment and trying to survive in my "half" while the other half was being renovated. (Actually, it looked pretty cool after it was renovated, but then I woke up.)
I also don't sleep as well with my bedroom door open. It's not that any more light gets into the room; it's just something psychological. (I also don't sleep well - psychologically speaking - without some kind of "cover" on, even if it's just the topsheet when it's hot. I've never been that kind of person who can just sack out on the sofa and sleep. I envy those people, who can nap anywhere and who aren't disrupted by noise or light.)
I guess I'm gonna be living off of stash for a while, too. Luckily I have quite a large stash and had been pretty well just working from it when this financial blow happened. I've decided my next shawl project - when I finish Hiawatha - is going to be either the Bird's Nest Shawl (from Folk Shawls); I have some lovely camel's hair blend that Elann sold last year or so. Or I might dig out some nice plain blue yarn I have on hand for the Wool Peddler's Shawl and do that. (I think it's time for a worsted-weight yarn shawl project). I think my next sweater might be the Skye Vest that I have Cascade 220 in-stash for, or perhaps another Sitcom Chic. (I will say, with some shame, I have yarn on-hand for THREE additional versions of this sweater: a cheapie Bernat cotton/acrylic blend, some of the old-stock 1824 Cotton, and some of the new, tencel-blend yarn that KnitPicks has. But then, it's one of the most useful sweaters I've ever made.).
It occurs to me that that first sentence - taken out of context and read by a non-knitter - might mean something very different to them. "Living off of stash for a while" indeed.
