I've decided on using the orchid-print fabric for the back of the most recent pink and green and brown quilt. I ironed it last night; all I need to do is cut two large pieces and seam them. (I think, because it's not clearly directional, I'm going to fold it in half WST, pin it, and sew one long edge almost all the way up, then cut AFTER I've sewn. That may result in fewer problems with edges that don't meet up).

I also just barely began another quilt - this is going to be yet another pink and green quilt, with fabric bought over a year ago. Bright pink (brighter than bubblegum, close to fuschia) and a yellow green that I call "baby leaf green." The fabrics are mostly from a Free Spirit collection that I forget the name of, but it has poodles on it. And the "big" fabric for the main border is a row of boutiques in the same colors.

I'm going to do a pinwheel quilt out of it, from one of M'Liss Rae Hawley's books. I started cutting strips last night.

I've decided that my weekend bust-out (if I decide to take it) will include dropping the two finished quilts off to be quilted, so I need to sew up that orchid backing tonight.

I'm getting back into doing piecing more. Part of it is the weather - it's less pleasant to have a lapful of wool when it's really hot out. And part of it is, I think, impatience - some blogger made the comment that knitters were the "short bus people" of the craft world (I don't really like that metaphor and please don't flame me for it [especially if you have a special needs child]; it's what she used). Sewing is a lot faster than knitting. For some reason right now I have a real need to see things FINISHED.

But I did knit some: some more on Ginger; her front is almost done. Already I've decided that her tagline is "I can do anything Fred can do, and I can also do it backwards and wearing high heels." (I am sure some of you "get" that.)
