sometimes it does not pay to be nice.
Today is my college's luncheon, right? And it's potluck, right? And I made a batch of turkey meatballs with raspberry barbecue sauce from my Big Book of Healthy-but-Good Crockpot Recipes, right? And I did them last night, and had them in the fridge overnight, right?
So I thought to myself: you know, you will need to heat those babies back up in the crock pot before people want to eat them. And then I thought: but the luncheon starts at 11 am, and I'm in class then. And it takes nearly an hour for the crockpot to warm to an acceptable temperature.
So, I thought: okay, I will take them over BETWEEN classes.
One catch: it's very cold today (well, not single-digit cold, but cold for where I live). Parking on campus is, let us say, a hot commodity. (We have a little 'faculty' lot next to my building but NO ONE EVER obeys the sign that asks it be reserved for faculty, staff, and visitors). So I figure: if I run over AFTER the 10 am class starts, and get back before 10:30 or so, I will be safe, my spot will still be there.
EEEEEEENNNNH! No! Wrong! The secretary tells me someone pulled in MOMENTS after I pulled out. So I am parked behind the building in a not-a-spot, and I'm praying the campus police don't come out to ticket. Because the other "close" (1/4 mile away) lot looked full, and I'll be d****d if I will park a half mile away and spend my ONE hour for lunch in transit back and forth to my car.
I threatened to give the make, model, and license number in class, and say, if this is your car, you are on my s*** list.
