SInce this IS a knitting blog:
I am AL-L-L-MOST done with the Canal du Midi socks. I have completed the twisted-stitch patterning part of the foot (after much checking and verification on the first sock to see what row of the pattern I stopped with, and whether they were of equal lengths). I have finished the 1/2" of stockinette. I am on the toe decreases.
They should be done tonight. (There was a concert on campus I had thought of going to, but we have a late-afternoon faculty meeting, and I fear that it will go long).
I started these socks over two years ago, but because the pattern requires concentration, I didn't work on them very much. (And as I said before: here's one of the purposes of keeping a knitting blog: the day I began the socks. I knew I remembered taking them on the Hot Springs trip with me (but not working on them much) but I didn't remember the exact day they were started. So they'll be just a few days shy of two years and two months on the needles. I know that's not any sort of a record - and actually, I have an unfinished sock that's been on needles LONGER - but I will say it bugs me to have a project I actually want to finish unfinished for so long).
I'm not going to start anything new right away; I have enough backlogged projects I want to finish.
