Canal du Midi?

Fini!

I am so happy to have these done.

And a close-up of the twisted-stitch patterning.

And I am working on the toe of the first Checkers sock! I've declared this weekend to be a Sock-In, where I work on the sundry socks I have going. It's lovely to sit and listen to music and watch sentimental old television movies about Christmas (there was one that had John Denver! And Jane Kaczmarek before she got famous! And that guy who was the grouchy balding dad on That 70s Show, only when he was younger! And it was all kind of sappy and sweet, and yet it was so earnest I couldn't help but like it.)

And here is another piece of Good Advice, courtesy (suprisingly enough) of my health insurance program's newsletter. It's from an article on reducing holiday stress:

"Before you say anything to anyone, ask yourself three things:
1. Is it true?
2. Is it kind? and
3. Is it necessary?"

Good advice indeed, I think. (I was never one for Festivus and its airing of grievances - I mean, it might make YOU feel better temporarily, but it makes other people feel WORSE, and I can't imagine that a person feels better for long, walking around going, oh my gosh I can't believe I told him that it bugs me when he does that, why did I say it?)

The socks look scrumptuous! And the kind, true, necessary rule? Love that. :o)

The socks are lovely. The colors are great, and they work with the pattern really well.
