Proof that it was okay to wear socks with sandals long before it was regarded as "not okay."
I wish we could put that to rest as being a fashion "no no." Frankly, I think those nasty nylon "trouser socks" worn with high heels looks worse.
Again: sandals with wool socks allow for the feet to breathe. They prevent the development of fungi and other nasty foot buggies. I have happy feet because I don't cram them into shoes that are too small, or wear heels high enough to throw my hips out of whack, or wear 100% synthetic socks inside of shoes on a hot day. (Or, for that matter, go sockless inside closed shoes, which is probably even more inviting to Digger the Dermatophyte and his kin).

I almost never wear sandals, but that's a whole working-in-a-lab safety issue. But I don't wear heels either, so I figure I'm at the happy medium.
