This is going to be a picture-heavy post.
Warning to bugphobics: the Toebiter pictures will be at the very end of the post.
Didn't do a whole lot this weekend; worked on the ongoing projects:
The most progress came on the Cape Cod socks - the second sock was just about 1" of ribbing and lace pattern of the sock-top when I started the weekend:
And the sleeves of Zelda grew a little bit:
And this is my current knit-and-read project. It doesn't look like much right now but will look nicer when blocked. It's a Morehouse Farms "Verona Shawl" (just stockinette, for feet and feet, in laceweight yarn on big needles). It's sort of a grey-green color. I thought the picture came out OK without the flash, but I turned out to have to adjust the brightness so the thing even showed up:
And then finally, The Toebiter:
It was hard to will myself to pick it up even though I knew it was dead.

Yeah, what creeped me out the most about it was the knowledge that it had "stylet" mouthparts and can sting. And that it has apparently a mild neurotoxin in its saliva.
Like I said, it was hard to bring myself to pick it up, even though I knew it was dead.
"Water bugs" (e.g., the euphemized American Cockroach) are almost as creepy to me. Those suckers are BIG. And they can walk on ceilings and people tell me they can fly...
