Well, I'm pleased to see that I'm not the only woman on the planet who finds fake toenails a bizarre concept.

Not much else to report. Was in the office until after 5 yesterday (thankfully, the a/c is now fixed to the point where it's comfortable in here) writing the textbook review. But it's done, and I'm going to send it off this morning.

Yesterday evening was the semi-monthly congregational night-out at a restaurant. We went to a new-ish Italian place in Sherman, Johnny Carino's. It was good, but there was far more food than I cared to eat at one sitting. So I've got a serving or two of baked cheese tortelloni that I hope will heat up well.

I also found out, to my great delight, that all 20 of the kids we plan to send for camp are paid for - most of them, on "scholarship." As a congregation, we raised somewhere on the order of $4000 to send these kids to camp (camp is NOT cheap - it's $200 or more a week depending on the age group). Many of the youth group kids are from what I would politely describe as challenging family situations and they'd probably not get to have this type of experience otherwise.

We're a very small congregation, and many of the members are on pretty fixed incomes. So I'm really, really pleased that we could raise that much - in fact, the secretary says there will be some left over (which is going to be banked for NEXT year's camp).

So, this Sunday, instead of making the "Moment for Mission" request (and really, this DOES count as Outreach - some of the kids had had no religious experience before they started coming to youth group), I'm just going to get up and thank the congregation for their generosity. (I'd much rather do THAT than ask for money again!)
