Remember Zelda?

That sweater had been on semi-permanent stall since, I think, March. Yesterday evening after a day working in the field, I decided I wanted something not-too-requiring of concentration, so I pulled Zelda back out and started in on her again.

Also, if I get back to knitting on Zelda now, I will have her finished in time for fall, when it's cold enough to wear wool sweaters again.

I go by cycles on things. Now I'm back in a wanting-to-make-sweaters mode, after earlier having been only interested in socks, and before that, shawls.

I've also been flipping through my Sally Melville books again. (I've said it before, but I'll say it again: the woman is a genius at taking a very basic pattern and making it super-appealing through choice of yarn). I broke down and bought some of the Pachuco Organic Cotton and wasn't sure what to make with it - I think it's either going to become the funnelneck pullover from "The Knit Stitch," or, more likely, the basketweave-patterned top (the one with two buttons at the collar, I think she calls them the "To the Lake" pullovers or summat like).

I HAD to buy the cotton. As a botanist, it intrigues me that the color is bred into the stuff, instead of being dyed in. The cotton is naturally that color! On the label, it describes one of the colors they had as "mauve" but I don't think Elann had any of that (or if they did, it wasn't easily recognizable as a mauve). I bought Forest, which is more of a greyish green - sort of a deep sage color.

So I need to finish Zelda so I can start a new sweater some time. I have a rule - I can only have one "big project" of each kind on the needles at once (socks, scarves, hats don't count. What counts are lace shawls and sweaters. I don't know why I have this "rule" but I do).

Sometime I also want to do another Sitcom Chic (well, actually, two; I have yarn in-stash designated for two.) I have some 1824 Cotton (which I understand has been discontinued) in the color called "Musk," it's sort of a warm light brown. And I have some cheaply-bought Bernat (I think) cotton-blend yarn, their "Denim Style" in a green color. (I really like the Sitcom Chic; it's a very wearable practical sweater for me. I don't normally like to do multiples of one pattern but this sweater is just so RIGHT for me. I already have two in my closet that I wear pretty regularly.). I actually originally bought the Pachuco cotton for yet another Sitcom but then thought I'd rather do something else with it.

i was sorely tempted to buy the pachuco myself, but i could have sworn i'd seen a bluish color from Clara's KR review, but elann doesn't have it. however, the darker brown is very appealing. i don't know what i'd make though, and i believe my stash has hit critical mass, and may explode, sigh. got to get knitting (specially since i bought some more cotton ease, i'm sucha guppy)
