For Dani - Crikey, I had forgotten about the "Lime and the Coconut" Coke ad. I'm not that familiar with the song (I think I only ever heard it on "The Muppet Show"), but even I knew enough about it that the concoction was a bad one.

(I suspect there will be a generation of kids who literally think the song is "Put the lime in the Coke, you nut..." My youth group kids were singing it one evening.)

Also: could we PLEEEAAAASSSE have a moratorium on the use of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" in advertisements? I realize that it may not mean the same to everyone as it means to me, but as a practicing Christian who regards it as one of the finest expressions of the realization that "He is risen!," I can't STAND to see it used to advertise a cable-movie network (as it was with Starz!) or, now, an energy company (There's some Texas energy producer that is using it in their radio spot. They rewrote the words. Bleah.). I mean, think of "Amazing Grace" being used to shill fried chicken, or some serious piece of Jewish holy music used to push a new car, or a Buddhist chant being used as the background of a vitamin commercial* It's just kind of ugly, and, in my mind, kind of disrespectful. But that's just ME, I guess.

*(Actually, considering how American culture does tend to lift wholesale chunks of Asian culture purely for its "aesthetic value," without trying to understand or respect it, I'd not be at all surprised if that last had happened)
