From the "It's always something" files:

Yesterday afternoon, the phone range as I was finishing my shower after doing fieldwork. It was my mother. In a hushed-sounding voice, she said "Your brother's been in a bike accident."

It's too bad that my mom has somewhat of a sense of drama, and also that I have a vivid imagination. I immediately imagined the worst. It was not until a couple minutes later, when she commented that he "walked his bike home [after the accident] and called [my sister-in-law] to take him to the doctor" that I figured he was probably mostly okay.

It turns out he broke a collarbone (as I found out later last night). Tendons and ligaments may be involved but we are hoping not - a broken collarbone is not that big of a deal but messed up tendons might require surgery.

He was supposed to go through graduation for his Master's of Divinity on Saturday; don't know if that will happen now. I suppose I need to get him both a get-well card and a graduation card now.
