I am really fighting the temptation to order some of the new "Monet-inspired" handpaints from Morehouse Farm (I cannot find the yarns on their website - and I don't think it's not for want of looking). They're pictured in an ad in the new Interweave. My immediate favorite is "Springtime in Giverny" (mostly pinks), but I'm also fond of the Venetian canal one, which is darker and seems to be purple-dominated. And the Waterlilies one, although that's probably the first thing people think of when they think of Monet, is lovely too.

The thing is, I'd probably wind up buying "Cinque Skeins" of any colors I wanted (and that's pricey!) because I can't see doing anything less than a shawl out of these.

(And what I really hope DOES NOT HAPPEN is that by the time I've decided to bite the bullet and spend the money, I find that Morehouse has, for whatever reason, discontinued the yarn. As I said in an earlier post, yarn discontinuance irritates me - and it irritates me even more than what someone on Knitlist posted about, some conspiracy theory where she was accusing Knitpicks of raising their prices on all the stuff she wanted after they saw it in her "shopping cart." (no mention was made of how long the stuff had sat in the "cart.") Frankly, I think it would cost the company more to have cart-monitors poised to jack up prices on anything that seemed remotely popular, than it would be to just maintain prices and apply rises as is necessary to keep pace with rising costs. But then again, I tend to assume that the universe is not revolving around me on any given day...)

(Yes, you may say "aw, snap" now)

I understand completely, E. Yarn discontinuance is one of the prime reasons I buy projects I like when I see them. Of course, it may be years by the time I actually get around to actually knitting them and by then my tastes might have changed a bit. :)
