And a question: the "extract of malt" referred to in "The House at Pooh Corner" as being the food Tiggers like, is that like Marmite or Vegemite? When I was growing up, I always imagined it as being like Horlick's powder (the sweet stuff you mix with milk - or at least you do when you're eight and have a metabolism that can burn off 6,000 calories in a day), but I don't think that would be very successful for making sandwiches out of.

I didn't know of the existence of Marmite when I was a kid, which is why I thought of the Horlick's. I've never tasted Marmite; all I know is that I've been told it's very salty and is somewhat of an acquired taste. (The same person who described Marmite to me told me that the Brits she knew didn't like peanut butter, and she imagined it (peanut butter) was something you had to grow up eating to like...)

i hate peanut butter, and i grew up eating it. i also don't care for peanuts very much. i will admit to a few peanut butter indulgences, like peanut butter kisses at halloween (the boys hate them, so i get all the yummies), and i like chicken satay. oh, and reeses peanut butter cups. only one with unadulterated peanut butter is the cup, and that's got chocolate, everything goes with chocolate.
