1. I finished the moebius scarf last night (I used the three-needle bindoff, instead of kitchener-stitching the whole thing, because I'm lazy). Alas, I have no pictures of it today because...
2. I woke up in a flop sweat early this morning - I FORGOT TO TURN OFF THE STILL IN THE DEPARTMENT! (I turned it on yesterday to make the large quantity of distilled water I will need for a lab this afternoon). There is a large sign on it that says "***MOST IMPORTANT**** Do not forget to turn the still off at the end of the day!!" So I dressed as fast as I could (Although, at that hour, no one else was likely to be around, and my p.j.'s are more modest than the average underclasswoman's street clothes these days), ran over here, and found that one of my colleagues had turned it off for me. Probably the one to whom the lab belongs, and to whom I mentioned I was turning it on. I feel kind of like an idiot, but at least there's not distilled water flooding the upstairs hallway.
3. The meeting? Totally pointless. The vote was split straight down the middle. There were some angry words, there was one guy there who always needs to stick his oar in at every stinkin' meeting on campus (sticking his oar in as expected) - I almost turned around and told him "hush up, you're hurting your cause!" but I didn't. So now the vote goes back to my group yet again, where we can either impolitically let it die on the table, or present it to a vote of the faculty. My inclination is to bring it forward to a vote - because then if it's voted down, the people who brought the motion forward in the first place have a larger, more anonymous group of people to blame and be angry at. (and oh, yes, they were angry at us for voting it down. That was made abundantly clear.). So now I have the joy of trying to get my group back together for yet another meeting.
I am giving up my chairpersonship of this group. They cannot buy me off by telling me what a good job I'm doing this time. This isn't worth what it's doing to my blood pressure.
