Managed to squeeze out one more picture before the camera lost its charge:
I'm really happy with how these are turning out. The 2 x 2 rib will ensure they will fit sufficiently snugly, so I'm continuing it (and the cable) down the instep. In case anyone's interested, I'll write up and post a thumbnail of the pattern here after I get them done.
And now, I'm facing the pleasant task (well, after finishing a paper rewrite, teaching lecture and lab today, and giving exams tomorrow) of deciding what projects I want to take with me on spring break. I'm thinking, these socks, and the Canal du Midi socks (it would be wonderful if I could FINALLY finish them). I've also got a pair of just-simple socks from one of the Regia family yarns (Antik I think) that I could take. And I'd like to finish the Knit-Purl scarf and the little crocheted scarf. I could take those, or I could take some combination of those and the Zelda pullover. I like the idea of maybe getting a lot done on that. But I also like the idea of not lugging mass quantities of yarn with me for once - so I'm leaning toward the socks, the scarves, and maybe yarn for one more pair of socks (as yet unstarted and pattern undecided-upon) as insurance in case I get more done than I expect (I can turn out a pair of simple socks, even on size 2's, in a couple of days now, if I'm knitting on them for most of the day).
I also think I'm going to try to dig out a particular skirt pattern I liked - and see if I can find some nice, sort-of-dressy black fabric up there to make myself a dressy black skirt with. Trying to find one at the mall over Christmas was an exercise in frustration, and I didn't even look here for one, because we have nothing at all in the wide gulf between Dillard's (too $$$$$ for me) and the el-cheap-o teenybopper-centric hole-in-the-wall stores.

Is that the "Stargazer Lily" sock? Wow! The colors really pop! It sure looked like there was more pink on the KnitPicks site (if it's "Stargazer Lily", that is.)
Congrats on getting the re-write done on your paper. That's gotta feel good!
