It's going to be a short week for me, but that doesn't help a lot.
Thursday is our Curriculum Contest, so I had the option of cancelling my 11:00 class that day, or trying to find another room. As I have a hard enough time getting people together in the class in its regular meeting place, I opted to just give them an assignment for the day.
Then, Friday, in place of giving an exam (have a colleague proctoring it for me), I go to judge the state science fair in Ada. A change is as good as a rest, right? I do have to leave here the usual time because it's about an hour away - or as one of my friends said, 62 miles of bad road (so I'm giving myself an hour and a half). I'm supposed to be done by 3 or 4. I'm HOPING to be done early enough to hit the quilt shop that's supposed to be in town. (Yes, I am still avoiding excessive spending, but I figure - it's a new town to me, it has a quilt shop I've never been to before)
Still, it's a hectic week. This afternoon, I have to go buy crickets and lettuce for tomorrow's lab, and make strong tea and instant coffee and "tea" of red pepper flakes. And I have to buy pea gravel for my Excellent Seed-Planting Adventure, which I am hoping can go down Thursday after my 8-9:15 class.
Of course, I have the regular Wednesday-night-thing and in addition, AAUW on Thursday. And I'm trying to finish reading one of the books my Directed Readings students chose - it's "The Hot Zone," which I started a while back and had to put down because it creeped me out so badly. It still creeps me out, but I have to finish it now. I'm glad I don't hear about these kind of viruses too often - it would turn me into a recluse who insisted on exposing my mail to UV light and would only eat food out of cans. Seriously, it's creepy creepy stuff - Marburg and Ebola and the other viruses.
My tiller came Friday, and I put it together this weekend, but I really don't forsee having time to use it before maybe Saturday. Too bad, because I really need to plant my beans....
