No pictures today.

Oh, I planned to have them - took my diskettes home, had the camera charged up. Couldn't do it yesterday afternoon - church stuff starting at 5, didn't get home till after 8, was too tired then. Planned on it this morning.

Went in the kitchen to get breakfast, discovered a line of ants. Closer inspection revealed that they had found a lone Tootsie Pop left from my Hallowe'en give-out, and that said Tootsie Pop had liquefied (it's been about Tropical Rainforest grade humid here). Liquid sugar+fruit flavor = powerful ant attractant.

I suppose I should be glad that they're "just" the little black pavement ants (a/k/a "sugar ants," a/k/a "piss ants") and not the dreaded RIFA. But I'm never happy to find ants in my house.

So, the time that WOULD have been spent photographing the shawl was instead spent cleaning up the remains of a Tootsie Pop and all the associated ants. And going through the cupboard where it was and tossing anything else suspect. And then taking the bag of stuff directly out to the trash can, in the hopes that the ants will choose to hang out there instead of in my kitchen.

Sometimes it's not easy being me.

Oooh, and here's a link to distract you from my lack of doing anything interesting: Boston Globe story on self-patterning sockyarn. Fair Isle purists, commence your sneering. (I do take issue with the article's comment that people who work on these socks can sit there and "mindlessly" knit. It's never "mindless" for me - I'm reading, or talking with someone, or praying, or SOMETHING.)
