Today is two-exam day. I have the Dolman Updated with me, to knit on while I proctor.
And this is one of the reasons why I work on multiple projects at once: I get bored with the same thing day after day (I also read three or four or five books at once, changing as my mood changes). I had put this aside for a while in the interest of the Kilimanjaro Kat shawl, and then (over the weekend) in the interest of working on the DNA helix scarf again, but now I've picked it up once more.
And I received my Powell's order last night. The book I'm most taken with is the Green Mountain Spinnery pattern book. It has the kind of patterns I love, where a good basic yarn in a solid color is combined with a nice stitch pattern to produce something quiet and classic and attractive and not full of fuzzy bits or wild colors or shiny things or fibers that will be hard to care for. The designs are definitely not "trendy," and I like that.
I prefer to save the fuzzy bits and wild colors for socks or hats, where I won't have invested six months of my life on knitting something where people say "oh, she's wearing THAT again."
I am particularly taken by the Artisan vest, and the jacket made using a similar stitch (ummmm....the Studio Jacket?) and the viney lace cotton cardigan, and the unskirted version of the cabled sweater....
