"Blessing" socks (with the word knit into them)

in Hebrew
in Arabic (Kufic script).

(both are from Knits n Bytes

The designer also suggests the possibility of doing one of each, as a sort of physical prayer for peace in the Middle East. I also think it might be possible to plug the Kufic script into the "Malamuke Socks" in Nancy Bush's Folk Socks in place of the "Allah" script, for those who are concerned that wearing the name of God used by Muslims might offend some (ESPECIALLY on the feet; I have it on good authority that that could be quite offensive to a devout Muslim. I was told once by an oilman that in the Arabic world, showing someone the sole of your foot is the supreme insult. He said he and his co-workers were counseled, when they went to Yemen, to never sit with their legs crossed, because of the risk of inadvertently showing the sole of the foot to one of his hosts). (It might require adjusting the spacing a bit, or putting more background stitches between the repeats).
