I finished the heel-flap on the second of the swap-socks last night. I also pulled out the long-stalled Regia socks and knit some on the leg of the second sock.

And now, I have a dilemma for next week. A good dilemma. I have my mid-fall break coming up (Thursday through Sunday) and I need to decide what to do.

I am contemplating making the (long) drive to Hot Springs, Arkansas, to see the national park and what sounds like a very nice historic downtown. Part of this is to get over my fear of doing new things and of traveling by myself.

On the other hand, it would be very nice to go down to Longview for the day again, it's been over a year since I was there last. And I could go for a day, come home to sleep in my own bed, and then do something (like maybe go hiking at Chickasaw NRA) on Friday.

I almost feel like I "should" go to Hot Springs because it is a pretty new experience - going alone somewhere I've never been, driving quite a ways (Mapquest says it's five and a half hours, which means it will be more like six hours for me), getting a hotel room in a strange city (that's what concerns me a bit - I don't know if there's a "safe" part of Hot Springs and a "bad" part without being there, and I would hate to go there without a reservation, because what if a conference is in town...)

So I don't know. It will probably also depend on the weather. If it's going to rain the whole time, forget it, I'll go shopping instead. But if it's going to be the perfect, Indian-summer type of day, then I should go.

There is supposedly a yarn shop in Hot Springs but I don't know how old the Woolworks.org posting is, and it said the owner was in her 80s, so she may have retired and closed the shop, so I'm not expecting that to be a possibility.
