Chromosomes and socks!
June Oshiro (of DNA scarf fame) has a picture up on her LiveJournal of some striped socks made to look like the chromosomes in a human karyotype (you may have to scroll down; it's not clear to me how/if to permalink the post)
Something like this would be another 'randomization' option for those who want to do random stripes or blocks on their socks.
Sometime I should make some "ecology socks" (maybe with lace-stitch patterns that resemble the fruiting heads of prairie grasses, or perhaps with knit-in formulas for some of the classic models of ecology...Island Biogeography anyone?) so the biochem geeks don't get all the glory on the knitting front.
