Well, the Vegan Fox is done. It is one of those projects where you get to a point where you realize you're so close to done, that you keep going until it's finished.
Mine looks somewhat muppety. I think it has to do with how his muzzle scrunched up a bit while I was sewing in the hairclip that lets him "bite" his "tail".
Oddly, the new Knitters has a pattern for something similar. It also has a pattern for a dropped stitch shawl that is not unlike the "Magic Scarf" being discussed on the Knitlist.
Something in the air? (Well, with the magic scarf, it could be that someone saw the shawl in the issue and remembered the pattern...but the Vegan Fox was published in a time frame that I think neither it nor the Lily Chin version from Knitters' could be a copy...)
and may I be a bit cranky re: some things on the Knitlist?
It's called a swift, folks. That's the thing that holds yarn while you wind it or while you hand paint it. It is not a 'swifter'.
I don't know why but that just sets my teeth on edge. It's sort of like "verbing" nouns - you know, the ads that say things like "It's the new way to office" or something like that. Oh, and I don't like "gifted" as a verb, either. The correct verb is gave, it's served admirably for 300+ years and there's no need to replace it now.
I don't know why this bothers me but it does.
