Very soon - probably tonight - I will have the embroidered label done and on my "Spools" quilt.

Which will mean it is officially done.

I haven't done much else - today is day one of my mid-fall break (I get today, tomorrow, and the weekend off). I spent part of the time cleaning - my folks are coming for a visit - and also last night, I graded 22 student papers.

And today I went shopping. I had had somewhat of a "tradition" (2 years running) of going to Longview, Texas (3 1/2 hours away) and shopping at Stitches n Stuff and Barron's and lots of the other cool places there. But in the interest of saving time and money, I didn't this year.

I did go to Sherman/Denison Texas (1/2 hour away); I needed to go to the Lowe's there.

Driving back through Denison, I took a tour around looking at the shops.

And I discovered one new to me: Epiphanies, a used and rare book shop. Whoo-hoo! I looooooooooovvvvvvvveeee used and rare bookshops and had been missing having a "real" one near me. I think I must have spent over an hour browsing and just walking around feeling amazed that this place existed and I had never found it before.

(Turns out Epiphanies has been open for 2 years and I just never found them before (they sell a lot over the Internet through Abebooks). So much for saving money....

but then again, I supported a semi-local merchant to the tune of $60 today. And got several books I had been wanting, and some I didn't know existed but I wanted.)

I finished October's book group selection for my book club. I didn't like it, that's enough said about it. I started "A Severed Wasp" by Madeline L'Engle last night - it is so far more to my taste than the book club book, it's amazing.
