Some various links for today - things I find useful or fun.

Useful links:
Online lookups for atlas, quotation, definition, thesaurus, and more information

World Wide Words, a site devoted to English etymologies

Information on SI units, better known as the Metric system

some weird and fun links:

Le ciel est bleu this is a weird little flash site that has "puppets" (their term) made from images of animals. You can pick up giraffes, let them go, and watch them float back to the ground. No animals were harmed in the making of this website, yada yada.

The dancing banana. One of those weird but funny little things one runs across. No bananas were harmed in the making of this website (in fact, the banana involved looks quite happy to be such a star).

The "What's New, Pussycat" memory game I think I linked this one before but I love it so. I love how Tom Jones says "You remember cat good!" when you get them all correct. (I think this one also requires you to have Flash for it to work).

Not any real knitting content - a long afternoon meeting, and then I was incredibly tired when I got home (I really should go get a blood test for anemia; I've felt this way for several weeks now). I did a couple rows on the afghan, and discovered my "no dye lot" yarn left a big darker stripe right in the middle of the area I had done. Poot, as Jan Tink says on the Knitlist. I'm not ripping back, though - this is to be a "working" afghan and it's for me, so I'm going to convince myself I don't care about the color variation.
