Did a little knitting on the Seaman's Scarf last night - but was felled by a bad headache, early (I still had it when I got up, right now it's at bay thanks to allergy meds and "Excedrin Migraine").

I didn't mention my garden-additions from the past weekend. I finally got the shade-garden area under my elm tree partially ready (the soil is hoed up and I dumped 5 bags of topsoil on there but need to get more). I planted (in the newly topsoiled area) a couple of ajuga and a couple of pachysandra. I've decided to go mainly with ground cover in there - stuff that will spread and that will be low-maintenance.

I was sort of excited to see the pachysandra; my mom used to grow it as a ground cover when I was a kid. (I'm nostalgic that way).

and - the best plant of all - the garden center I went to had Inland sea-oats. This is one of my favorite plants - it is native here, it grows on the forest floor, and as you can see, it's very pretty when it's in fruit. I was so happy to find it. I had always said, when I was out doing research with students "they should sell inland sea-oats as a horticultural plant, it would make a great ornamental grass". I guess they do.
