Finished the knitting of the Sand sweater this weekend! I blocked it late in the day Sunday, and if I have the energy, I'm going to sew it up tonight and do the neckband.

I have 16 skeins of Sand left over. I'm going to send them back to Patternworks and get a store credit. Like I said, free is good.

There's always a moment of letdown when a big project is done. Sort of "what do I do now?" after carrying the thing so far.
But then I find something else to cast on.

I decided I needed a "meditative" (i.e., mindless) project. So I cast on 32 sts for a scarf out of the new Lion Brand Polarspun I couldn't resist at Hobby Lobby. I bought two skeins; the pattern on the skeins is for a child's scarf that is 5 inches by 46 inches. I figured I needed a wider scarf and so am doubling the width (and I hope the length will work out a bit longer; I'm going to knit until it's "long enough" or I run out of yarn.)

As one of the other knitbloggers said, it looks like Muppet fur. (I have blue). I hope kidlets don't think I scalped Cookie Monster to get my scarf...

I also couldn't resist casting on for the Landlord sweater I am making. This one is going to be a plain cardigan, out of the Stahl book I bought at the same time as the yarn. Size 13 needles and polar weight yarn - it should be ready for me to wear by the time it's cold enough here to wear a sweater like that.

I'm getting more into knitting sweaters now. It's a real feeling of accomplishment when I get one done.

Oh, I finished the first of the Country Socks this weekend, too, and have the top cuff of the second one done.

And the Knitting Curmudgeon has a blog up now! (I guess she's had it for a while but I didn't see it earlier). I don't agree with Marilyn on everything (on many things, for that matter: I tend to be more tolerant of the naive questions asked on the knitting e-mail lists and I generally have a more idealistic view of things), but I have to give her props as one of the people who got me into knitting (the first incarnation of her Knitting Curmudgeon webpage had a sock pattern on it and it made me realize I wanted to knit socks).
