Elizabeth e-mailed me to suggest that "Heide" might be German for "heather". Aha. That makes sense, given the colors. And I like it, because my Christian name is the Latin genus name of one of the types of heather.

I made the Good Eats meat loaf for dinner last night. But, I have a food intolerance to carrots (it's like lactose intolerance, but to carrots) so I substituted sweet potato (uncooked) for the carrots (and for the red bell pepper, which I hate). It was ok, but I think I got too much onion in it - the recipe called for 1/2 onion, and I was doing 1/2 the recipe, but I decided "hey, the onions are small, I'll put half of one in". Not a good idea.

The glaze is really good. I don't normally go for meat loaf but the glaze was the idea that sold me. I think I'm going to make this one again. Next time, I think I will try water chestnuts instead of the carrot, and use less onion. (My mom is allergic to celery and she uses water chestnuts when she needs the crunch in a dish but can't, obviously, use the celery that's called for).
