I have to give a "shout-out" (is it still OK to say that?) to Moominmamma, who answered my questions about homeschooling. Yeah, I have to say I agree with her - if I had a kidlet and could swing it financially to stay at home, I'd probably homeschool said kidlet. I remember my own grade school days unfondly, and I think intelligent creative odd children wind up getting pretty seriously squashed by the "law of the jungle" that is rampant in so many public schools.
