It was field trip day, supposed to run from 10 am until noon, and the leader decided to do about 45 minutes of "directed" field trip and then turn people loose (some people had to drive home, it was HOT out, and some folks wanted to go to the museum associated with the prairie)
I could have (should have) bailed at the end of the 45 minutes and gone and sat in the cool, but I had to be macha and prove to myself (and maybe others) that I could still do it.
I almost couldn't. All told we walked 2.5 miles, and this was through tall grass under full sun (the worst thing about most prairies is there is absolutely zero shade).
I wound up being able to ride part of the way back to the main building on one of the little utility vehicles ("gators") that the workers sometimes use to move around (especially when they have to move equipment, like for maintaining the fences) and that helped, but I'm pretty wiped out. I did drink a gatorade even though I don't LOVE it, but I was starting to get muscle cramps in my legs. (I also drank a bunch of water)
Hopefully I will have recovered tomorrow; I had plans to get my framed picture and run a few errands.

This evening I felt okay enough to do what I talked about last night - wind off a skein of yarn I'd been wanting to use and start some "just simple" socks when I don't feel like thinking about a pattern
The yarn is a "Dream in Color" I've had for a while (I can't remember if it was on closeout yet when I bought it from Quixotic Fibers). It's actually Smooshy Yak (which makes me wonder if I did get it on closeout, I normally don't buy the luxury fibers). The colorway is called "Alive" (lots of pale yellow green and pinks and some pops of purple). I made a pair of simple mitts out of a dk weight in this colorway and wanted socks of it too.
I did get them cast on and just a couple rounds of ribbing. You can see the colors a bit better here
I plan to knit maybe an inch and a half of ribbing and then just knit the rest of the cuff (and the foot) plain.
