first finished thing

This was a long term project, not because it was difficult, but because I stalled out on it. I'm still not sure I love them. I don't HATE them, but they're a little bright, even for me.

And the yarn - an older Opal - was so splitty, especially in contrast with the other pair I was knitting on. I'm not sure if it was that particular run of Opal, or if I'm misremembering Opal as being better than it was, or if the addition of the tinsel strand affected it.

But at any rate, I got them done

I didn't try to match them; it was a very long repeat and I also noticed a few breaks in the yarn (about 10 years ago, I had a small outbreak of carpet beetles and I'm still finding yarn they got to). So I had to splice those and keep going (and then weave in the ends at the end; and it displeases me aesthetically to not be able to make a simple sock out of one continuous length of yarn). But with socks like this I am not sure matching would matter.

 I guess they're OK.
