Well, not really, more like "UPS finally pulled their thumb out of their orifice and got the package to USPS" but it FEELS like it.
So anyway. This morning I gave and graded my exam. Went home, ate lunch, realized it was a good day to get my property tax payment in (I like doing it in person and the courthouse annex where you do it is only a couple blocks from my house) and I also grabbed up the "Rainbow Junior High" doll I bought for Toys for Tots (I forget who her name was, but she had pink hair and a pink plaid dress) and took that down to the Chamber of Commerce, which is a collection point.
Came back here, and joked elsewhere that "if the world worked like a fairy tale world, my having done a tiny thing to hopefully help a child have a marginally less crummy Christmas would result in my missing package being found and moving along to me" and then I thought "no it won't happen of course, because the world doesn't operate like that, but I will check anyway just for kicks and grins"
And guess what? It arrived at the post office here this afternoon (only a WEEK after it hit Carrollton, Texas, which I *believe* is close to Dallas, so, like, less than 100 miles from here?). I am supposed to receive it tomorrow.
The complicating factor is Squishables said they were sending a second one out to replace this one - I quickly e-mailed them and asked if they could cancel that one, easier for all of us. If they can't, they will send a mailing label for me to send it back BUT if it comes "straight" UPS or FedEx, it will wind up sitting on my porch when I'm gone, and I'll have to deputize a neighbor to pick it up and keep it safe, and then I send it back when I get back. So I'm really hoping they can stop it from going out.
But okay, yeah: sometimes you DO get what you want, occasionally
