It's all done.
Marteen/Martin (still unsure of the spelling) and his coworker worked and worked and worked and at some point I realized they were pushing to finish. It was just a bit after 6 that he called me in look at the kitchen.
But here's a shot of the tile floor. I think Dana was right guiding me to this choice
Martin also said he really liked it and thought it suited. I'm just happy it's done. This weekend I may spend the time in and around going to memorial services putting the kitchen back together.
They did leave the extra tile in the kitchen, he suggested storing it somewhere in the house, I might stick it under the bed in the guest room. I *think* I can lift one box of it but I'm in a dress and don't want to try tonight.
In addition to the huge repair of the gaping hole in the floor, they put down the new tile, put down all new white edge trim, and used a silver strip to cover the gap between the rooms
I'm exhausted though, this has been the most stressful part of it. Even though it's not terrifically *healthful* food I have a pizza on the way because I just don't have it in me to try and cook.
I texted the big boss and told him (a) to please call for Dumpster removal and (b) I could meet with him and his wife to hand off a check for the rest
And now I can get back to my regularly-scheduled life

Nice!
It's always good to keep the leftover tile around, for easy repair down the line if cracks develop for whatever reason. That way any repairs will still match, so you don't have to choose between living with a mismatch or avoiding mismatches by doing the whole floor again.
